Evagoras Mandrides
The People's Photographer
I'm Evagoras Mandrides, and I've been photographing weddings since 2004. I'm Greek Cypriot and I speak Greek, and I've now photographed more than 600 weddings. In Central London I photograph weddings from Mayfair and Marylebone to Kensington, Chelsea and Bayswater, and from King's Cross and Covent Garden to the City.
I specialise in Greek Cypriot and Greek Orthodox weddings, from the stolisma to the last dance. In Central London I've photographed at St Sophia Cathedral in Bayswater and All Saints Cathedral in Camden Town. Flash is almost always allowed in Greek Orthodox churches, so I can photograph the whole service. I know most of the Greek Orthodox priests in London, and if I haven't met yours, I introduce myself before the service.
I photograph weddings of every culture and faith, not only Greek Orthodox: civil ceremonies in London hotels and at Chelsea Old Town Hall and Old Marylebone Town Hall, Turkish and Albanian weddings, Catholic weddings at St Peter's Italian Church in Clerkenwell, a Syrian Orthodox wedding at St James's Church, Sussex Gardens, and humanist ceremonies.
I know the big London hotels and how they work, from The Dorchester, Claridge's, JW Marriott Grosvenor House and the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square in Mayfair to The Landmark and The Langham in Marylebone and the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel at King's Cross. I plan around London traffic and parking, and I always arrive early.
I've taken couples from St Sophia to the Italian Gardens in Kensington Gardens for their portraits. Depending on where you're getting married, I'm also happy to take you to Hyde Park or Green Park near the Park Lane hotels, St James's Park, the South Bank by the Thames or Primrose Hill near Camden. I plan your portraits around golden hour where the day allows, and if it rains, there's always an indoor plan: a hotel staircase, the ballroom or the church itself.
I arrive about 30 minutes before the service for family photos, photograph the whole service, then take about 30 minutes of portraits at the church and about 30 minutes at your venue. If you'd like me to stay on, extra coverage (2 to 5 hours) can include the meal, the speeches, the cake cutting and the dancing.
