Evagoras Mandrides
The People's Photographer
I'm Evagoras Mandrides, and I've been photographing weddings since 2004. I'm Greek Cypriot and I speak Greek, and I've now photographed more than 600 weddings. I photograph weddings from Ealing and Shepherd's Bush to Docklands and Ilford, and from Battersea and Crystal Palace to Bromley, Croydon, Kingston and Richmond. I plan around London traffic and parking, and I always arrive early.
I specialise in Greek Cypriot and Greek Orthodox weddings, from the stolisma to the last dance. In West and South London I've photographed at St Nicholas Cathedral in Shepherd's Bush, St Mary's Cathedral in Camberwell, St Constantine and St Helen in Crystal Palace and St Nectarios in Battersea. Flash is almost always allowed in Greek Orthodox churches, so I can photograph the whole service. I know most of the Greek Orthodox priests in London, and if I haven't met yours, I introduce myself before the service.
I photograph weddings of every culture and faith, not only Greek Orthodox: civil ceremonies, Turkish and Albanian weddings, Catholic weddings at St Agatha's in Kingston and St Peter's in Camberwell, and humanist ceremonies. I've also photographed a christening at the Church of the Holy Family in West Acton.
I've photographed couples in the grounds of Richmond Golf Club, The Manor at Bickley and Oakley House. Depending on where you're getting married, I'm also happy to take you to Richmond Park, Kew, Greenwich Park or Crystal Palace Park. I plan your portraits around golden hour where the day allows, and if it rains, there's always an indoor plan: the venue's own rooms and staircases, or the church itself.
I arrive about 30 minutes before the service for family photos, photograph the whole service, then take about 30 minutes of portraits at the church and about 30 minutes at your venue. If you'd like me to stay on, extra coverage (2 to 5 hours) can include the meal, the speeches, the cake cutting and the dancing.
